FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions for Kids in Sync South West.
Find clear answers to common questions about our paediatric occupational therapy services and how we support your child’s unique needs.
What is paediatric occupational therapy?
Paediatric occupational therapy (OT) is a type of therapy that helps children develop the skills they need to grow, learn, play, and thrive in their daily lives. It focuses on supporting a child’s ability to do the things that “occupy” their day—whether at home, in school, or in the community.
How can sensory integration therapy benefit my child?
Sensory Integration Therapy (SI) can be incredibly beneficial for children who have difficulties processing sensory information—whether it’s touch, sound, movement, or body awareness. This type of therapy is especially helpful for children with conditions like Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), and some developmental delays.
Do I need a referral to book an appointment?
No referral is needed; simply contact us to schedule an appointment that works for you and your family.
What age groups do you work with?
We work with children from 0 – 14 years of age, from infancy through adolescence, tailoring therapy to their individual needs.
My child does not have ASD, ADHD or any other neurological conditions…can we still benefit from Occupational Therapy?
Yes! Occupational Therapy and Sensory Integration are definitely not only for children with neurological conditions. OT supports children with things like low muscle tone, hypermobility issues, motor skill issues, shoulder instability, etc. OT is for every child.
Can I use benefits/insurance to pay for your services?
No. We are an individual paid service. You would need to pay us upfront and then claw back funds yourself from your insurance provider or anyone else you need to.
